Entering at Moose Lake for a last minute trip. I haven't traveled this area mainly because of the motor lakes, however it was the only available permit for the date. I'm trying to figure out the motor boundary. I haven't procured maps for this area yet so can't correlate with one yet.
I saw this one picture which shows the motored lakes in red however the map doesn't seem to extend into the area we're moving toward. Does the motor area stop at Sucker Lake before going into Birch Lake so anything northeast of Sucker Lake is non-motorized? Planning on eventually heading towards Knife Lake, etc.
Thanks. Tried to search this topic, but couldn't really find any definite answer on the actual border in this direction.

Bushpilot: "You could get a tow to the 5 rod "Indian Portage" from La Tourell's. I think it is $30 a person and about 6 miles."
We did this to and from there on our trip last year. First time we've ever used a tow and glad we did. I'm normally not a fan but I'm sure I would have been more upset at paddling for 3 hours each way while boats were buzzing past us than paying for a ride. Especially at the end when we knew a shower and beers were waiting for us on a hot windy day.
I'm pretty sure Williams & Hall and some others have this service too.

I think it must depend when you are going - time of day, day of week, and which month. I've changed to always paddling Moose, and rarely see more than a few motor boats. I have paddled from Moose landing all the way to portage to Carp without stop - a nice way to start a trip. And it seems a lot of boat traffic is for Q access, so for now probably less.
