I'm thinking this might be in a PMA since those tend to the the non-maintained areas. If a marked portage on the map means it's "maintained" im sure that will still give different results since not all map companies have the same info. No marked campsites because then it's also on a maintained route.
But....Jackfish Lake south of crooked? Sterling east of Stuart? Raven? Barto? Hope? Eagle south if Brule?

There is an unnamed "lake"just off Pauness which is mostly clogged. The lake has a small non-clogged circle which may have formed with the melting of glacier ice which was imbedded there. That is located just after the end of a very short now more bushwhack than portage. The lake looks to be fairly long and may come out in the direction near the end of the up and down portage from Shell. (I thInk). Take a narrow paddle from a put in location and you may find it. It is possibly dangerous to get to the circle as you will have to portage yourself and your canoe over water deep enough to be dangerous with roots and vegetation for your travel. I did that once, but not likely to do so again.
the greatest come backs are reserved for those with the greatest deficits.

Where is Auk?
I was originally wondering this after seeing Mandomin just south of Basswood and thought it fit this but now I see a portage there and 2 sites? On my wall map anyway. So it's out...but it got me wondering if there were any bigger lakes like that which weren't mantained. Sort of an oasis away from travel routes and decent sized.
John Ek? Or is it John Elk? Just thinking of eventual bushwhack/PMA goals and wondering if I'm missing anything obvious
