Heading in on the 14th for a couple nights on Malberg, then on to Makwa, back through Adams/Beaver, and out through Malberg and Polly. Looking at that Malberg-Makwa-Adams-Beaver route, any campsite, fishing, or excursion recommendations? We're thinking of a day trip up to Little Sag after a layover in Makwa.

Find current and you'll find fish pretty easily. There are at least 2 places with current flowing into Malberg, narrows in the middle of the lake, and place where it all flows out. Fish those. Stream coming south out of Kivandiva. The portage straight north of Malberg on the lake/river thing is around another set of rapids. You get the point...

The campsite on Makwa's west end is at best a 3 star. We stopped there for a snack on a day trip. Not much for trees or tent pads. Only thing going for it is ok landing and great views near the cliffs. We didn't check out the other one

The island site on Adams is very nice. Also the site on Beaver, on the point where you turn from the south arm to the east arm, is also a very nice one.
