Here's an interesting article on a regional approach to reopening the border. Wonder what that would mean for the northern Minnesota border?

Reopening the border the smart way

Thanks for the link to an interesting read, Mark. Having a Quetico permit for late August, I hope the US & Canada can come to a border-opening agreement soon, but after seeing videos of Memorial Day weekend gatherings across the US, I'm not certain we're capable of doing anything "...the smart way".

Probably not going to happen here though we have 650 miles of border in common. Gov just shut down restaurants reopening as the deaths at 81 and cases 2,000 state wide. over half have come from health care and nursing facilities in three counties and those are the focus. There are few health care and nursing facilities elsewhere than those three counties.

No romping on the beach here.. Water is still very cold. No crowds either.

Fortunately camping is allowed and canoe camping is great as the quarantine stands for out of staters.

Just speculation but I expect contact tracing and a QR code so you can be followed when the border reopens Temp checks are already done at salons and dentists.

Not sure what we can do about it. Every day life is social distancing anyway.

I wouldn't count on border opening soon. As states are reopening, hospitalizations and deaths from covid19 are spiking.

Can you name the state that spiked, everything I have seen shows no spikes or increases due to opening businesses in those states . I have seen increased numbers in those states That have opened, and those states that haven’t, but the numbers are increasing in all states due to The increase in testing And seem to be increasing at the same rates. Higher numbers do not mean a higher percentage. 10 positive out of 1000, if your looking at averages is the same as 1000 out of 100000, this is not a spike. You cannot just call higher numbers a spike.
