The Friends Guide to the Boundary Waters

i'm sure no one of us agrees with all of the recommendations but seems like a pretty good start.

Quick skim and it looks decent. Nice start for beginners I'd say.

Looks like a nice comprehensive guide. Would be a great start for any beginner.

That is awesome. I've always liked giving newcomers a comprehensive reference such as Cliff Jacobson's basic BWCA book. Even if you don't agree with every point, they will get the overall idea. This free ebook fills a lot of that same role even if not as comprehensive as Cliff's books. I like it.

And on page 57 it lists bwca.com as a good website.
