Talk about a little whitewater! I’ve backpacked the Grand Canyon twice, but it would be awesome to do some paddling down there. I’m a sissy, so I’d be in a raft! Last time I was in the Grand Canyon some guys had packed down some packrafts to run Tapeats Creek where we were camped. Gorgeous area, and it’s the recipient of one of the shortest named rivers and the steepest river in the US, Thunder River.

Absolutely crazy. I have a friend who was a raft guide in the Grand Canyon for 5 years. He took me down 2 years ago in October as well (on a raft). He told me the Colorado River has a rapid classification all it's own from Class one to ten. I can't imagine trying to paddle a canoe thru those class 10 rapids like Crystal and Lava.
Here we are going thru Lava Rapids, a class 10.
That water is also super cold. And it looked like a couple of times they didn't scout the rapids. Crazy stuff (but it does look fun!)

We all have to believe in something. I believe I'll go paddle.

Did some whitewater rafting in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula. It was class 1-5, there was a take out point after a class 4 area. The guides asked me if I wanted to do the whole thing with the last part being class 5.
I declined the offer and got out, class 4 was enough for me. After 25+ years of firefighting I figured I shouldn't push anything.

May the rivers be crooked and winding, and your portages lonesome, leading to the most amazing view.
