Always wanted to do this trip to Pine, Chad, Buck but I've never pulled the trigger. Does anyone offer a tow across Vermillion? Last I read the marina doesn't offer this service any longer. No tow would be a deal-breaker for my wife. Thanks.

It is only about a 3 mile paddle. If the wind is from the wrong direction it could suck.
I know of no one that has tow boats with canoe racks, but I am sure you could find someone to pull you across.

Try calling Lonnie Johnson he runs the motor portage and also guides on Vermilion.

Not sure when the marina you mentioned supposedly closed but we saw loads of canoes getting tows when we were on Vermillion a year and a half ago. Hard to believe there isn't someone offering them since it is such a popular area.

However, we paddled Vermillion on our way to Trout and Pine, and it really is not a bad paddle at all. Lots of islands and bays to provide shelter.

Call shamrock marina and ask for his guy - I forget his name, but they hauled 2 canoes for us for $150 round trip- worth every penny if you ask me. Many people get turned around and lost on vermillion. It was an older guy and his son
