Beautiful pictures and great read. I loved hearing about the differences in the lake trout from lake to lake even though I am not into fishing. The gear reviews at the end are a nice bonus. Thanks.

I really enjoyed reading your report, sounds like a great time! Thanks for throwing in the site and gear reviews, those are fun to read. This sleeping pad you speak of has piqued my interest. I am on my third pad now and I never sleep well while camping, may have to look into this one. And Fjall Raven pants are great. Unlike you I prefer the flexibility of having zip offs, even if they look dorky.

The zip offs are more about comfort for, they just rub me the wrong way, literally. Glad I got a pair before they discontinued the non zip-off version

Highly recommend the Cosmos pad. I've seen it on sale for as low as $135. Lifetime guarantee too. I'll never go back to blowing up a pad, especially one that is extra wide and long. I started with the Xped (too narrow and didn't like the vertical baffles) and then the Nemo Astro 25L (great pad but took forever to blow up), and now the cosmos. This will be my last pad purchase for a long time and with the lifetime guarantee I may not need another one.

I think the portaging discourages some and the burn others. IIRC, you'd have probably been portaging more uphill if you'd gone CW instead of CCW.

The night we got to Little Sag we could only spot 2 other campsites taken but there were several we didn't check or could see. Over the course of the next few days we saw several groups coming in. I would say Thursday night was the busiest and at least 3 more groups came into the lake.

I'm usually there in the fall, but have never seen more than one more than me. There must be a couple of dozen sites on Little Sag and I've heard it's one of the most under-utilized lakes in the BW according to USFS. I think a lot of the people who go are there for the lake trout. It still must not have seemed "busy".

Thanks for the report. Great pics and details. Got me stoked for my trip coming up doing that same loop! Definitely gonna have to try and land one of those West Fern trout. :-)
