For you winter camping fans, a heads up.

Last night was the 7th season premier of the outdoor adventure series, "Alone", on the History Channel.

This years cast includes our good friend Kielyn Marrone, who with her husband and partner Dave, own the winter adventure company, Lure of the North.

Thursday nights, 9 pm Central on the History Channel.

I will definitely watch this. Just started watching season 6 on Netflix and seeing there is potentially going to be some 90 degree days next week I'm already looking forward to fall/winter.

I couldn't convince my wife to name our second daughter Kielyn but I tried. I obviously think highly of Ki and will be rooting for her. Those dudes she's competing against would be fools to underestimate her!

Yep, she's tough as nails. She's also gorgeous and very charismatic.

Since watching this program from the beginning it has been very interesting to see how people handle survival. If I recall the longest anyone has survived the show is 84 days and under arctic conditions that could be really tough. I wish the gal from LON the best of luck because they have yet to have a woman win the show and I have rooted for a gal to win for a while now. Should be a fun watch.

Amazing how losing your flint and steel can ruin your day.

Just finished watching the final episode. Interested what thoughts people had.

Ultimately it seems to boil down to 3. major factors. 1. The ability to catch food. 2. The ability to handle the extreme loneliness. 3. The ability to avoid illness or major injury.

I have nothing on theses people and admire their skill sets and toughness. I was disappointed a gal didn’t win the contest. I think the winner was extremely lucky to kill a musk ox. If the runner up or other gal had caught more fish I think there would have been more than one winner. Remember all they had to do was last 100 days so unless there was some rule we were unaware of they could have had multiple winners.

I know this is hindsight, but Roland was in it to win it. I believe the only thing that would have taken him out was injury. He has some real holes in his life and I wish him the best.

I'm pretty sure Callie would have made it if the frostbite wouldn't have forced her out. Also think Keilyn just needed to land a couple more fish.

One thing that bugged me is they never really explained the rules. What happened if no one made it to 100? Would the last one still get 500k?

If 2 or more lasted past 100 days, would they all get paid? Would they keep going until only one was left?

Did Roland get 1Mil for 100days AND 500k for being the last one standing?

Cricket, they did mention in the episode where Callie was pulled that Roland had to make it to 100 days. I agree that if either of the two gals especially Callie had secured more food either one might have made it the full 100.

Thanks Seven, I missed that.

On one of the little after shows when they were talking to Roland about the Musk Oz herd he mentioned not wanting to scare them into another contestants territory to help them out.

From these two bits of information, is it safe to assume that
1. If no one made it to 100 days, no one gets the payout?
2. If multiple people made it to 100 days, the competition continues?

Both of these seem pretty lame IMO.

I think I recall hearing somewhere (but not sure where) that if two got to 100 days they had to keep going until there was a winner. I was also just under the assumption that if one person was left but it was under 100 days, they would win but not the full $mil. Not sure why, but could not imagine any possible way one person might be left at say 95 days and get injured or tapped, and they would say sorry, no prize for anyone. That would be the end of the show.

I was really happy for Ki - she did great. I’ve never met her, but after watching so many LOTN videos and with the strong connection to Wintertreking and the symposium, I felt like she was “our” team. If only she and/or Callie could have been into the Lakers much sooner (days 30-60) like some of those other guys, they might have held body weight much better and lasted the full time. Just can’t live on rabbits. I could not believe how positive Callie was all the time.

Like MidwestFirecraft said, Roland was really in it for the win, and probably lived a life closer to their “survival” situation than anyone else. One tough SOB!

Anyone else have fun watching the videos on 10 items and saying “hey, I’ve got that!”?

Kid told me that she is still recuperating from starving. She has gained back weight, but lost a lot of hair and it is growing back stiff and wire like.

Wow, and holy crap. How long after she was out there did you talk to her? I remember noticing when they mentioned at one point that she had dropped 50 lbs.
