What has happened to everyone that used to be in the chat rooms? Last night, the chat rooms wouldn't even open up. I haven't heard anything from cowdoc or Kip in a while. I know we lost a few recently. Hope everyone is doing well.

I've felt bwca.com participation has been dropping for years. I remember threads that would amass hundreds of posts in a couple days. This site is as sweet as ever, but the paddling community is growing older and naturally shrinking. It's a little like my church, which is a group of old people and about every two weeks to two months, one of us dies.

Well.....I'm around. Been some changes at work that have made life busier. In summer, I'm outside in evenings, not inside chatting. Kip just finished a lot of work on his PhD. And started new job. Although, he was on a solo all last week....actually paddling...not chatting about it. We're around....all good.

The chat room at night hasn’t been the same since the days of Kanoes, Jan. During the weekdays there are chatters.

As far as the overall threads here, I’ve not seen much difference in numbers. Ever looked at a thread from 7-8 years ago? Most of those people are not even posters here anymore. New people pick up the baton and carry on.

Kids are grown and gone, newly furloughed from my job related to Covid, spouse is self-sufficient. I’m here a lot more than I should be. But paddling more, too.

The Facebook group is also probably peeling away new & existing posters. I know I've been around here less since working from home started.

every so often I try and put a post up for a specific time to chat, I'll try and do that more often, do specific nights or times work better for people let me know

I agree with Jan gone, it just hasn't been the same place

I try to get in there as much as possible and usually someone will join in. But I have been so busy this past month that I haven't had much time to sit and wait.
