Normally I like to have a hotel/motel room for the nights before and after our trip. Primarily this is to break-up our drive from southeast Wisconsin, but also to provide additional opportunity to support the local economy. Of course interaction with locals this year is very limited, but I would still like to find a way of breaking-up our travel so that we don't have to make it from our house to our first camp site in one day.

What are our options this year? The usual few places we've enjoyed staying are all just straight-up closed. It's an East Bearksin entry for the first week of August.

Bunkhouse at Rockwood. It's close by. I have stayed there for the last three years.

We always stay at Tuscarora in one of their bunkhouses. They have brand new bathrooms/showers, a delicious French toast breakfast, and are just a wonderful resource. Give Andy and Ada a call!

Hungary Jack Outfitters for us. Right near EP 60 (maybe 4 to 5 minutes) and just down the road about a mile from Trail Center as well. The best mattresses I have ever used before or after our trips. Real and solid and about 8 inches thick.

Tuscarora seems a little further down the trail, but I do follow them on FB & Insta extensively and Andy & Ada seem like THE BEST!!! I've never stayed with them but can't wait to, so, if you don't mind driving down the trail a bit further, I'd say go for it.

I can also attest that the current owners of Rockwood Lodge are amazing as well. We didn't stay there, but did put in for the Lizz/Swamp a few years ago, and they helped us load our canoe, told us exactly how to get to the EP, and then greeted us and helped us unload upon our return. They are class act.

We recently stayed at East Bearskin Lake Camper Cabin. While the check-in process at Bearskin Lodge was amazing, the cabin itself was creaky as heck and put us for a fitful night of sleeping, not to mention the noise from fellow campers at a regular "campground".
