In light of a few recent conversations/posts and a recent trip I thought I'd add to my current tie-out capabilities.
I have the permanent ones attached to the front radiator frame, but sometimes you jump from one vehicle to another and could use a bit more flexibility - so I made these.
I ordered the hose from NAPA - which is a VERY heavy wall hose - for a bit of security.
Some folks defend the flimsy attachment of only the luggage rack but I've spent too many miles on the road in too many high winds to trust that alone.
I want everything to REMAIN on the vehicle.
Just a little ingenuity:

Wow, very simple solution, well done. Another one of those "why didn't I think of that" inventions. I followed the recent thread dealing with the lack of bolts under the hood to attach the nylon straps with a grommet to. Funny how you look at a problem that involves, for example, a bolted connection, and don't think to look for a substitute for a bolt. Bolts, we don't need no stinkin' bolts. Like you said, a little ingenuity. Looks like a marketable solution, the KarlB-Hood - Dealybob.

I got the idea from this link - I just like to make my own equipment:
Hood loops

Nice idea for a DIY Karl.

REI also sells those. I use a pair for tying the stern on my Prius V. It doesn't have tie downs on the frame on both sides of the rear, and it saves my bumper from getting shined by ropes & straps.
