Can anyone recommend cleaning products that are odor proof ? I already take all the precautions an experienced camper does to help critter proof their camp but I would like to be as invisible smell wise as possible. I'm thinking more of packs rather than the stuff inside them.

On a side note -- I left some dry kindling in a ziplock bag along with one nights fire wood at my site last trip. Was the ziplock bag a bad idea? How would you keep it dry?

Unless it has been exposed to something with a strong odor the pack itself should probably be OK. Otherwise you can put things in OpSaks (odor proof plastic bags) inside the pack itself. I use them for most of my food.

A good place for kindling is tucked under one of the log seats, maybe covered with birch bark. Have found it there in the past and whoever put it there knew what they were doing.

Spent more than my share of time hunting deer and bear, and came to the conclusion odor proofing is a waste of time. Simple household cleaners work as well and smell is hardly the only attracting agent. Bears are curious and examine many things, smell or none. Often creatures of habit, they will return to productive areas even without odors. Top that off is that all the previous campers, trail users, leave a lingering odor trace. Opsaks while often referred to are marginally better and easily fail, excellent sealing bags yes but still do nothing about the external odors of cooking and food prep and personal hygiene gear.

Keep camp neat and clean and hide or hang items as possible. Be ready to give up and move on if needed. Nothing lost to a curious bear is worth personal injury.

Fuel?? In a ziplock or under birch bark is fine.
