Hello All,
A friend and I currently scheduled to go to a camp in Ontario between Fort Francis and Dryden. Our plan is to take kayaks and fish a different lake each day. However, based on the border situation, we need to probably have plan "B" in place.

So, we have been researching the BWCA. Our primary goal is fishing and just enjoying the peace and solitude. Our primary target is smallies, but we are equal opportunity fisherman and will fish for any thing that is biting. Our intention is still to use our kayaks.

Our plan would be to go in on September 14th and come out no later than the 23rd. We may even consider coming out mid way through that time and move to another EP.
Looking for any suggestions

Thanks in advance
Sam

You probably don't need come out to change locations. Many of us will move every day ti different sites.

If set on a kayak, I would look for low or no portage routes. Maybe a tiw into LLC or I've always wanted to do a Basswood shore tour.

If you can get an outfitter to give you a ride back, start at Fall Lake outside of Ely and end at Moose Lake, hitting the entirety of Basswood in between. Great fishing potential, VERY limited portaging for a route that long, and though some of that route is also legal for small boats to be in...you're late enough you'll miss a majority of those folks I'd think.
