Has anyone made one of the simple banana style under quilts? I will be working one one this weekend. Not down it synthetic insulation.

I finished this afternoon. It was pretty easy. I took the pattern from a "store-bought" One Tigris brand under quilt. It is their lighter weight model. I used fabric from JoAnne's. Pre-quilted with synthetic batting and nylon in and out. I started with 3 yards - it is 60 inches wide - 58 after I trimmed off the salvage and excess batting. Pretty easy - one main bottom seam and some finishing stuff. It has a simple elastic cord at each end with a small biner to attach it to the hammock.

Have you had a chance to try it out for size? Are you happy with how the pattern was and how it turned out?

Yes, it has worked out well. My pattern is the same as the ENO lighter weight and the One Tigris. Now working on one using the down throws. I will us two of them over lapped to get a long enough piece. Might gather the ends to avoid cutting off the excess and getting a warmer foot box.

The "kids" tested it his fall at 40 degrees - it worked well. Using a down throw for a top quilt also keeps it warmer and the "jacket secret". If you zip your jacket around the hammock at your feet - it makes a warmer foot box and keeps your jacket handy - but most " hangers" already knew that - I think.
A double layer - or using two under quilts made of the Joanne Fabric's insulated fabric could markedly increase the warmth. The warmth depends on the type and volume of fabric/insulation that is used for the bandanna(s). Down is better but I hate working with those feathers.

Haha - I agree - with you Ben! We should ask Muddy feet about feathers. He "blew in" all the feathers in his down Underquilt! a big job and a lot of feathers!
