I actually just bought one of these and it seems to work fine on my Northwind Solo. It clamps barely onto the aluminum gunnel though, so you have to make sure it's properly attached because it would definitely crack the kevlar if the pinch point was any lower. I would rate it 6.5/10 for being used on a kevlar canoe, depending on the size of the gunnel.
I would use a thin piece of wood on each side like paneling to protect against crushing the canoe. You can put a tremendous force with the screw hold down. Also if you knock it you might crack the canoe. The wood will help distribute the clamp load.
