Does anyone here use lead tape to make floating lures neutral buoyancy. I was reading that you just wrap a few turns of 1/4 self sticking lead tape to the hooks or body. I like the lure to stay underwater longer during my retrieve and thought this might work. I want the lure to run at a constant 8’ depth to keep it in the target zone longer. With a titanium leader I hardly ever loose a lure so I won’t be adding lead to the water. Another way is drilling the lure and inserting split shot weights. Any thoughts?

Are u casting or trolling? You could probably only add split shot to a balsa lure. Some lures would not get to 8' unless they sank. I'm sure you could find a bait that naturally runs at 8' that is already neutrally buoyant.

I really like the Rapala Super Shad Raps. They run 5’-9’ when retrieved. I only want a leader and a lure. No extra split shot on the line if I can help it. I will be casting the lures from a boat.
