Yeah they did everything right. I’m glad everybody was OK. I’m sitting on my porch watching storms roll in right now. Absolutely gorgeous. Even a little hail. I was thinking about how’d I’d be feeling in a tent during the gusts that were coming in. It’s great to know there were no injuries.

We were camping on the north end of Pipestone Bay the night this storm came through. I remember waking up to the constant sound of rolling thunder and it made me think of a freight train a-coming. I thought this was going to be bad so I got my pants and boots on and prepared, knowing where the big rock was where I could get the group of boy scouts I was with to.
But the kids chose a great site, based off listening to the weather radio I had along. We stayed well protected and came out of the storm just fine.

You hit it correctly. Check your campsite out when you get there and see if there would be a safe place to retreat and also look at the tree where you set camp up. Which way do they lean etc.

I'll never forget pulling up to a campsite after a very stormy night on Lac la Croix and seeing the dry spot where a small tent was pitched. A huge birch tree had fallen, and the very tips of the branches crossed the dry line. There was a baby's diaper left behind. A close call for that family.
