This was a couple weeks ago, but any of you who ever stayed at what was Smitty's on Snowbank would have known or met Dennis Schmidt, who ran the resort with his brother. Dennis was behind the counter most of the time. He moved back to the TC after they sold the resort. Super nice guy, will be missed. Dennis Schmidt RIP

In the 1990’s I stayed at Smitty’s a few times in January for Lake Trout Fishing. Denny always made sure your coffee cup stayed full at Breakfast. He was always excited to have guests and was very friendly. He liked to share stories about Snowbank Lake or the Lodge or give fishing advice. He was more soft spoken than his brother Ronnie and I thought he looked like Robert deNiro. Him and his family did a great job running the resort. I’m glad he fulfilled that dream.
Thanks for posting.

Ah, and a fraternity brother to boot.
Rest well, brother.

That’s where I called you from to rescue me when I got forced out due to a fire, pat.
They were very very friendly!
