My boss wants to take his 8 yr old son on a 2 to 3 day fishing trip along the shore. He is looking for some water to fish small trout from shore, doesn’t mind a short hike. I only know about little lakes and streams along the gunflint trail and that’s too far a drive for such a short trip. They plan to camp in a tent somewhere.
Where is the campground by Finland? Or is there dispersed camping available along the shore?

Wildhurst. Just outside of Finland. Great place! Nice people, cheap lodging, and they have a small restaurant, also.
My buddies and I stay up there during the winter for our snowmobile trips.

Theres a state forest campground pretty much right in Finland on the Baptism River..a brook trout stream. Plus all the rivers flowing into Superior hold trout. Don't expect a lot of fish or any big ones but expect some solitude and natural beauty.

there is a little campground right on the temperance river off the sawbill trail.

its a good little spot to camp and fish for trout.
