Just got a new (old) canoe, and can't seem to pin down what model it might actually be. I can't seem to find anything about Mad River making a Cruiser type boat at any time...the story from the previous owner was that it was a prototype for racing and another previous owner used it for downriver racing in the 80's. So, for the more knowledgeable members, is the 'P' in the ID a prototype designation, or what model is this? Is the 'L' suffix for lightweight? The contruction certainly isn't as robust as some others. Anyway, measurements are:
hull# MAD P5 328M 81L
18'6" long
16" deep at bow
11-12" deep at center
12" deep at stern
28.5" wide at gunwales
31-32" wide at widest part of hull, haven't had a chance to putit somewhere really flat and really get accurate
seems to be fiberglass, 60 lbs or so, thwarts are little tiny 5/8x1 pieces, not the 7/8x2 1/4 that most wooden thwarts seem to look like. the front and rear decks are also really short, and it has color matched fiberglass sliding tractor seats front and rear. Which, yes, I know, are loose. When I got it, the front seat was mounted behind the first thwart, putting it over 6' back from the bow, but all the pieces fit to put it in more appropriate location, and the wear marks support that it used to be mounted there, and they need some new spacers, so I have been moving the seats around.
Thanks for anyone that might remember anything from back in 1981...

PS- the boat it is next to is a Beaver Marathon that needs a little bit of attention to the seat mounting too, but otherwise is in great shape.
