What do you like to bring into the BWCA to sharpen both knifes and hooks (a useful rain break activity), that is not too big and heavy? Looking to buy something practical of lasting quality, for home use too

I don’t sharpen my knives on trips. I bring a couple of fillet knives for the trip and sharpen at home. My Mora knives are a Scandi grind so I need a large stone for that at home. For hooks I use a diamond plate sharpening tool.

This is a great sharpener. I use it for my pocket knives and my Mora fillet knives, even my kitchen knives. It can easily get your knife to shaving sharp in a minute or so. It does have fish hook sharpeners on the ceramic rod. It even has a leather piece for stropping, which really helps.

workforce sharpener

if you want one in blue that says "benchmade" you can get it for almost double the price, buts its the same sharpener.

blue one

I don't use it for my benchmade knives (they haven't dulled yet and if they do I will have them do it for free) or my Helle or Mora knives that are scandi grind. For those I use a few different japanese whetstones and they get insanely sharp.

Agreed. I like using this one (bought the Benchmade before I found out it was just repackaged basically), and I have used it on my Benchmades!

I also think that worksharp is great. I use it for kitchen knives as well as outdoor knives and tools.

I’m no expert on sharpening, so I find it easy to use and does a good enough job for me.

Those look like great, comfortable stones, but a little to big and heavy for me to bring:
