Very weird situation in the Tofte District on the reservation site for the first week of September on 9-3 and 9-4-2020. I booked a reservation at an entry point several weeks ago and all or almost all permits were available for the next several weeks. All of a sudden, all of the permits for the next several days were taken at the entry point I am planning to go in. Also, all of the permits for other entry points in that general area are now gone too.

Seems like a sudden invasion. Is there a sudden holiday, or giant group gobbling up all the entry points in the area? Maybe school has been pushed back? I am talking 10 permits over two days going poof. Worst case, that could be 90 people invading that entry point with 40-45 canoes over that period, whereas a day or two before, there may have been 1 or two parties per day on those dates.

This happened to all the entry points in the Tofte Ranger district for those two dates. Any thoughts as to why this happened?

I had the same thing happen. Plenty of permits available one day last week. Went to the reservations website the next day and all were gone. ALL were gone. I refreshed my computer or clicked out of the system altogether. Came back to it a few minutes later (or less) and the available permits were showing again. All good.

Been there, done that. I noticed this phenomenon over the weekend or late last week. ALL of the permits disappeared in the Tofte Ranger District for September 3rd & 4th in just a day or so, except for Bog Lake, wherever that entry point is. Apparently, no one wants to go to Bog Lake.

It’s just my guess from having watched the system for my first two trips this year and a hopefully third trip soon, but it seems like a lot of people are planning their trips a week or two in advance, and sometimes less. Not sure what else might be going on.

Haha, that's partly true. It's a dead end lake that's not easy to get to and has been partially burned. No day trip or any other options. Portage to it, and you're there. Hopefully the one good site is open.
