Looking to buy a new cook kit. Do not cook over open fire, just cook on my MSR whisper lite stove.

Wouldn't hurt to mention solo or group and size.

Personally I highly recommend the MSR aluminum cookware. Perhaps something like the MSR Ceramic 2-pot set?

I like the GSI Pinnacle cookware. I have the medium for solos and the large for groups. The medium will nest inside the large if you need more cookware.

My cook "kit" is collection of thrift store buys. I always found the kits had things I never used or knew I needed - triangular plastic cups and such - and cook kit fry pans always seem too small. I did pick up a GSI fry pan with folding handle at
REI. That - some trips - and a pot are about all I carry, with lexan bowls and gsi fair share mugs. I assemble a "kit" based on the food items on each trip.

These days our trips are always just the two of us. Breakfasts are always coffee, usually oatmeal & precooked bacon or sausage/jerky, so we're only looking for hot water. Lunches are cold. Dinners are dehydrated, so we're usually looking at short cook times and hot water for clean-up. A small kit like this Snow Peak has been perfect for us. We made an insulated cozy for the biggest pot that keeps dinner warm as we eat directly from the pot; the cozy also acts as the carry bag for the set, and the set accommodates out Optimus Vega stove. We don't fish, so don't need a bigger frying pan than the lids provide. Some folks don't like titanium because of 'hot spots' in the heated surface, but with the Vega's simmer control that hasn't been an issue for us...

One extremely versitile, and extremely cheap option is the IMUSA 12 cm mug. Make a pot cozy, add a spoon and this can be your entire cook kit/dinning kit. This mug is functional as a cook pot for 1-2 people. I have found them for sale for as little as $3.

If you are willing to spend, the Fry-Bake pan represents the pinniacle of packable cookware. I chose the Deep Alpine with standard lid. I made a pot cozy for this so, when solo it functions as cookware and dinnerware. I did eventually buy the Expedition pan as well but, it is larger than needed for my trips of 1-3 people. I have not yet carried it on a trip. One of these pans w/Lid will set you back $65 to $85 plus shipping but, there really isn't much comparable to a Fry-Bake.

Good Luck

I've got too much mixed cookware, and thus pick and choose as needed. I have a preference for SSteel, anodized aluminum, titanium, un-coated (my stuff predates ceramic coatings). But for a new pot and pan setup I think the line of MSR Ceramic Cookware particularly the 2 pot and 8 inch frypan would be a very good start. Add 2or 3 cups, 2 plates, small spatula and 2 fork/spoon sets of your choice.
Also would not hesitate to go with Alocs, Fire Maple, GSI and other makes of anodized aluminum from Ebay, I use either 1 liter straight wall or a straight wall heat exchanger pot often.
For durable long life a set of MSR Alpine SS pots and frypan have been in my use for nearly 4 decades. The pot lids fit the pots upright or upside down which makes a handy light weight Dutch oven.
Some unusual additions, I like plastic or steel gold pans for plates. The plastics are very durable easily cleaned coll to hold, the rolled steel pans can be seasoned like a carbon steel frypan working as plates or on the stove/fire to cook in. Gold Pans

I got this inexpensive kit on Amazon, have used it for three years for our family of 5 (plus usually 2 guests), and love it. I drilled tiny holes in one spot on the lid of the pot to strain water from. I lost one of the lid knobs, but have a little wire work-around. For the money, and the abuse it's taken (both on stoves and on the grill) I really love it. Easy to clean too, and the little foldable ladle and tiny spatula are great!

I've seen a bunch of these types on Amazon and always have been scared to buy! Thanks for sharing, will definitely be purchasing this to replace my Coleman set

A visit to EBAY offers up a slew of similar anodized aluminum cookware at inexpensive prices.

Agree - will say - I did a lot of research into the reviews - many of the pots had reviews that were MUCH smaller than they appeared - this one had good reviews about the size, and I can vouch for that. Was just big enough, but not too big to do big meals in for a party of 7 camping.
