Nice trip! You all covered some distance.
It is cool you found a site on Little Sag with a sand beach. Seems like the kids got to do a lot of swimming.
Someone has some skill with the camera. The pictures turned out great.

Great report! You were in some prime lake trout area, but those are usually very deep in mid summer. There are a ton of other lakes and areas with more bass, pike, etc that are more plentiful and easier to find up shallow or from camp. Pretty much anything on the Ely side would qualify. Also still a lot of options on the east side. Check out the granite river route from Magnetic or put in at Clearwater and head for caribou and beyond

I loved your report. Congrats on getting back to the BWCA after your years away. Hopefully, you wait as long for the next trip. Fabulous pictures! Tell your boys I am impressed by how well they did on a challenging first route. Sounds like a super fun trip.

Here is the basic idea for the s’mores nachos:

We kept ours a bit simpler and just melted chocolate chips, mini marshmallows and some peanut butter in a foil pack on the fire and then when it was melted we dipped broken graham cracker in the meaty goodness. It worked out well because by this point in our trip the graham crackers were already broken to pieces-regular s’mores would have been tricky. We also dipped some broken Oreos.
