Found this monarch 4 for sale owner said it is about 20 years old but it looks like new. Does not have the head strap or waist strap. What is it worth? I know the new ones are about $625. They are asking $225 and will pay shipping

Very nice... likely worth the price, IMO.

I'd say it's definitely worth it. My question is... Do you want it because it's a nostalgic canoe pack or are you looking for a good canoe pack? The reason that I ask is because for $35 more, you can get a CCS Guide pack that is a LOT more comfortable to carry.

Think you'll do what the current owner did; buy it, and let it sit in storage somewhere for years, and years?
In that case, I don't really see the point of buying it?

Which is not to say that "just wanting it" for your own satisfaction is a bad thing.
If it's for sale, and you have the money to purchase it; go for it. No doubt in my mind that others "just want it" too. If somebody "really" wants it to use;then they should get busy and jump on it!

In the condition it's in, and shipping costs being paid; it is unlikely that you'll ever find one cheaper, and it's doubtful that you'll lose money on it if/when you decide to turn it loose "down the road".

There are a whole lot of people with collections of paddles, golf clubs, fishing poles/lures, canoes, lanterns, knives, bows, tents, motorcycles, and myriad "toys and gee gaws" that they seldom or never use.

Life is short; do what you want to do, as long as it does not negatively impact others in the long run.

My rant for this rainy day..........

P.S. Some people ask me, "Bob, why do you have 2 of the same model of motocycle"? My retort, "Because I want too, and I can"!

Or buy the CCS Pioneer Pack and it's only $25 more. Easy call.
