We'll be starting off on Moose and meandering over around Knife and then dropping down in Kekekabic and some of the smaller lakes in the area.

Our little merry band of weirdo's includes a 73 year old whose been visiting the area for about 65 of those years on fishing trips. Myself and my wife and another fella who will be making his first voyage other than him , the rest of us have been visiting Quetico for the last 10 yrs pretty regularly.

Anyhow, how much moving around we do will be based on keeping the wife happy/ not wearing out the 73 yr old / not the new guy pushing too much on his first time.

Being that we're used to Quetico in September, I'm wondering with all the strangness of 2020 how many people are we likely to see, has it been busier than usual? And whats usual?

Im hoping to hang out between Knife and Kekekabic for the 8 days we have on the water, find a nice campsite and see as few humans as possible and practice the art of pretending to fish. Whats the chances of lakes like Spoon or Dix being busy still?

Also anyone know how the fishing has been in that area recently? My freinds both love to go for bass but i could fish every day for the rest of my life for pike and be happy. (in other words i need someone to tell me what lakes in that area are great for potherns so i can tell my freinds how amazing the bass are in the same areas. LOL)

much apreciated,

I went from Lake One to Alice on 8/1. The first few lakes were more crowded than usual. Maybe it felt worse because of lot of the crowd were groups of first timers who were poorly packed and did not follow portage etiquette , for example leaving their boats in the water blocking the portages while carrying their bags. All the campsites were filled through Hudson with people who were camped for the duration of their stay. Once we got past Hudson, the crowds disappeared.

I am going into Mudro to Fourtown on 9/5 and have my fingers crossed regarding campsites, since that is the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. On the other hand, because of the difficult portages from Mudro, I'm hoping that this is not a place recommended by the outfitters to first timers.
