The commentary on thus season was especially depressing.

Yep. Although on my 2 trips this season, once you got away from entry points all was much the same.

I agree. I was anticipating lots of people on campsites, portage trails and such, but was pleasantly surprised. We got great campsites even when we were close to popular EPs (Sawbill and Kawishiwi Lake).

Not as bad as I thought, but from the article above, it certainly sounds like there's a lot of violations going on.

Drunken naked women are always a problem! She must have figured get rid of booze and clothes the following portages would be lighter. Maybe was offended when someone was singing “she’s got freckles on her... but she’s cute!”

Whether I'm in the woods, city, or on a farm, I try not to remember that everyone, beneath their clothing, is buck naked.

Not too surprising. After all, September 1 is the opener of Minnesota Bare season.

Note to self: No more skinny dipping and drinking on your Boundary Waters trips.

My buddy, Jon, just entered the BW today at Lake One. He normally carries a bottle of brandy for medicinal purposes. I hope she didn’t trick him into sharing it, then ran off with the bottle! He’s going to be solo for twelve days! Lol

I'd agree bill. There seems to be an exceptional (and unexpected) capacity for the extra visitor or two to completely lose their composure in the backcountry this year. I'm hoping it wanes as the fall sets in.

My canoeing partner saw this and we are taking 'bare' spray with us on our future trip.

Someone is getting paid to be a drunken, naked woman escort? I may be open to coming out of retirement.

Incident happened on Lake One, which is in Lake County, but accesible only from St Louis County (Ely). Instead of authorities driving from Two Harbors, couldn't the counties coordinate rescue and law enforcement tasks so western lakes in Lake County are served by St Louis county personnel?
Of course, in this unique case, Lake County guys would not have ceded their "concern" for the "dis-dressed" woman to any other county.

Three Lake County sheriff's deputies work out of the Section 30 substation. There is also a substation located in Silver Bay. They're not all driving to various places in the county from 3rd Ave whenever a problem occurs.
