My 4-man crew plans to head to Crooked Lake next spring entering at Mudro Lake. We'll likely get there via the Fourtown/Boot/Fairy/Gun/Wagosh/Niki/Chippewa route. We'd like to stop at one of those lakes for a day or two prior to reaching Crooked. Does anyone know if Wagosh, Niki, or Chippewa contain walleyes? I know the other lakes I mentioned do. Not looking for any tips, just info in regards to their presence.

Thanks!

I have never caught a walleye in those lakes, and would be surprised to hear of one. They are small, shallow ,mud bottom lakes for the most part. They all do contain largemouth bass and pike. One of the young men in our group a few years ago caught a 20" large mouth out of Papoose lake(on your same route between Crooked and Chippewa) which was rumored to not have any fish. I guess you never know unless you try.

Thanks for info mgraber. I've paddled through those lakes once, but we did not fish them. Amazing about the 20" largemouth in Papoose...it was 20 years ago, but from what I recall that "lake" was nothing more that a large opening in the weeds with muck and lily pads abound. Of those lakes, just based on "feel" alone, Chippewa felt the most walleye-ish to me, it had more exposed rock and had a small island if memory serves.

I agree that Chippewa would be the most likely possibility, and looks to be the "fishiest"
