To the person who left his Danner, size 12, insulated boots at the island campsite on Jackfish Bay, I packed them out for you. Just let me know if you want them back. They can be found in the Ely landfill, along with your beer cans.
Thanks again, I love hauling out extra crap whenever possible!

Nice! Were these new boots or old, worn out ones? Not that it matters, but I'm just wondering if the boots and the cans were both garbage.
Thanks for making the BWCA better for the next person.

I did indeed rock down to Electric Avenue, but I did not take it higher. I regret that.

Boots were pretty worn, not much tred left on the soles. They've were soaked from the rain and it was pretty obvious they were not forgotten. They were sitting right in front of the landing on a high rock for all to see from 100yds away.

I don't know. I'm glad you packed them out, but if they were just sitting there for everyone to see, I doubt someone would leave them intentionally. If I were to leave something intentionally, I'd at least toss it into the brush. I'm betting they were forgotten and the next campers put them "on a high rock for all to see from 100 yds away" so that if they came back they'd be able to easily find them. Or maybe I'd be burned by giving the benefit-of-the-doubt. I suppose it doesn't matter much.

I thought that might be the case as well. However, you couldn't miss them when leaving camp. We spotted them from 100yds out when we arrived. I'm guessing the wearer said to himself "these boots are shot and soaked, to hell with carrying 4lbs of wet clunky boots, I'm leaving them."

On Thursday we took a very windy day trip on East Bearskin to Alder. When we got to the portage we found a bag (plastic grocery bag) full of trash at the portage landing. We carted it back with us, which was fine with a nearly empty canoe, but I don’t understand why we had to do it. Some people just don’t care.
