Hello All. I have never attempted an October trip before and when I went to Rec.gov I see that no permits are available for any entry point. Do I not need to book a permit for Oct or is the BW "closed"? I was thinking of going up to Big Sag for just a 3-night solo. Sorry if I just overlooked the info.

Quota Permit season ends sept 30. You can still go! Fill out a self-issue permit from the box at the EP.

To be clear, free entering October through April. October is great time to go. Easy to take fresh food! Be prepared for snow.

Sometimes the box at the E P is out of the self issue permits so it’s a good idea to grab one from a ranger station. They have them outside the building. We keep a stash of them in the glove box just in case
