Is the Beartrap River water level high enough to canoe?

Ouch. I don’t know that I’d try it right now. I think you’d have quite a few really muddy, dragging the canoe across muskeg spots. I know Iron Lake is about 12-18 inches lower than average right now and so I’m guessing all of its rivers/creeks are at a trickle. Although, it’s a pretty solid bet that you wouldn’t run into a soul on that route right now, so solitude would be a guarantee! “I’m not anti-social, I’m just pro-solitude”.

I was there in early September and it was fine (at least the Beartrap Lake to Sunday Lake section).

But a lot can happen in 4 weeks!

I went on a late Sep route from Mudro down Horse and planned coming back via Beartrap. After going down Horse and seeing how the low water added a few nice extra portages to get to the portages, a handful of liftovers, several hundred yards lining the canoe through rocks and mud, we decided to avoid Beartrap. I did it several years ago mid-Sep and it wasn't any more than a few extra beaver dam liftovers. It's a great route, would be interested to see what you find.
