I have added the Trillium base to my stove and I love it. However, it does not fit (nesting) in my Evernew pot. I am thinking about cutting it as shown in this picture (cut along the red line). I do not use the hole that would be eliminated in this modification.
I like to nest my cookset in the pot and the base is the odd man out!
Thoughts?

I also have this base for my Dragonfly stove. It is really makes the stove stable. I like to store my things together also so good idea. I don’t see anything wrong with cutting it a bit to fit your gear. By cutting the base you will still have plenty of stove support. Use a cutoff wheel to cut and file off the sharp edges, then use a sander to smooth the edges.

Cut away!! I use one also along with some old discontinued Uco bases. On question, are you using the Trillium with a New stle Whisperlite? I tries a Universal but it does not fit any configuration. The blade pot supports have bigger feet than Simmerlite's and Windpro's.
I pack my pot's with cleaning gear and or salt/pepper/spices. The Trillium goes into the MSR stove bag packed as is.

My stove is probably 10 years old. It is not the universal for sure. Here is a pic of how I mount it.
What are the "wings" for? I am guessing they are for the dragonfly.

the wings are for versions of the MSR XGK's or Whisperlites. Dragonfly wire loop base goes in the paired "oblong" holes under the tabs
