My brother and I plan to take a tow up Snowbank to Boot Lake and then fish our way through the chain of lakes over to Ima. How would the first week of June be? We want to fish for pike and bass mainly. Will the pike still be in relatively shallow water? I am new to this and just took my first trip to BWCA in September, 2020.
Hey Speyguy... welcome to the board! You'll find lots of experienced paddlers (and anglers) here and they'll be happy to share plenty of information.
As for June fishing, you'll find most fish throwing the feedbag on. Northerns will hit on anything. You could very easily catch the largest pike of your life on a jig with no steel leader. Or you could catch one while trolling or casting.
June is also a great time for walleyes. Jig & minnow, slip bobber set-ups with leeches or minnows, crankbaits while casting or trolling...
Others will have to offer suggestions regarding bass. It's a great time of year for fishing.
Good luck in your planning.
