Sounds like a wet white week-maybe total of 10 inches of snow-slush

Will it or will it not happen?

Pretty colors in the graphics. I vote NO for any snow coming in October.

It only seems fitting. We had 8" of snow on our October trip last season and this weekend looks to have something in store for us again.

I was there too. Woke up to 12 inches of snow. Was beautiful up there but a wet mess.

Arctic(the name fits) this forecast has to be close to your driveway.

Not unless he lives by the Trestle Inn.

Lets see those snow white pictures from those up north this week?

Yes past snow pictures while canoeing would be nice to see also.

I'm putting in Tuesday morning and coming out Sunday! Luckily I'll be closer to Ely so there looks to be a little less snow!

Friday 10/15 (yesterday)at Trails End and Cross Bay river. Today we are in Grand Marais where it’s raining hard with flakes mixed in. I assume it’s snowing hard up the Gunflint where it’s colder.

I hope they find that little Jack Russel Terrier before it gets too deep.

We had a snow squall hit us as we crossed Duncan yesterday. Another group was watching from shore and said we just vanished as the system moved across. Today, the snow started at 11am, but didn't pick up speed until about 1pm. Beautiful, sticking to trees. About 2 inches fell.

Wow, amazing what a week will do in weather. Beautiful regardless. Glad to have been in 4th through 10th though.

Thanks for the report. Any photos?

Love the photos! Cute family there, ducks! Certainly is a bit of snow up there at Trail's End.

Hiking yesterday.

Wow I still remember many days in the woods like that with a stick knocking the snow off the limbs so I don't get soaking wet.
I see even in Brainerd were talking 4 inches Tuesday.

Maybe 8 inches next week close to the BWCA in spots.

Might be early ski season for you this year. I do remember at least small lakes froze up by Ely early November before.

I’m going to Grand Marais next weekend. Looks like I’ll be breaking through ice to launch my boat on some of the designated trout lakes. Just got my ice fishing suit out of storage.

10/18/2020 08:45PM
Kinda early I know, but I thought I’d take the boat out today. Haha!

I was wondering about up there at your location. Looks pretty white. Good tracking snow tho.

Also I see thru the next 10 days you may get just under 12 inches of snow in your area. Say it ain't so Ben.

Yes Brainerd and Finland area in about the same boat. I mean sled or something.
I did start the snow blower, but still hope to mulch leaves with the lawn mower. I am more mixed and confused than normal even.

That might be very interesting with temps getting down in the middle teens?

Some areas by next Sunday may have received a foot of snow.

Ben I hope that wood pile of yours and the snow plow are all ready to go.

9" of snow ( at least 6"-- not sure I buy some of the 2nd' hand reports) in the last 5 hours N side of DSM. Even I-80 and I-35 covered during the max insolation. Unreal. Never seen anything like it- maybe 1997, but that was night time accumulations and a week later.

I had a little over 3 inches of snow over the weekend. Still an inch on the ground. Could be a few more inches tomorrow? We'll see...

Fun grouse hunting.

Wow! Crazy for so early in the season down there.

I usually get up in your area numerous times grouse hunting. Just have not made it yet. Maybe not this year?
Yes the forecasts are going crazy right now.

Each time I look at this weeks forecast the snow depth gets deeper. I think anyone going in this week better think twice.

Nope, I’m getting outta here this year. After deer season is the plan... but I’m part of a Christmas tree lighting party. So I’ll return briefly. Then Arizona!

Looks to be around 6-8 inches at our place by Duluth/Hermantown last night. Guess we will see it melt by April---I hope.

That is what I am wondering with another 6-12 this week, will it stay around to spring. I hope we can get a good warmup.
Here in Brainerd we got 7 inches and a lot of fender benders and a few roll overs.

No BWCA trip this year and now it looks like no Isabella - area grouse hunting trip with my son this weekend; it's just not good conditions for a travel trailer. This looks to be an early winter - just one more unfortunate memory from an already memorable year!

7.9 inches at MSP airport. I wonder if a warming trend will eventually be in the forecast? I'm not looking forward to shoveling at the moment and lamenting the end of the soft water season!

We’ll be making ice next week
