Hearing the cowbell in the Wild Cherry song I linked reminded me of how much it was used in 1970's music.

Stones

Stevie

I thought maybe the following incorporated it so I could link music from this century; but I was wrong.

Now I should worry about "Fake Cowbell" too?!

I knew about it but never saw that skit. I’ve kept farmer's hours since the early 90’s and haven’t watched much SNL since the Phil Hartman/Mike Myers/Dana Carvey days. The funniest/weirdest part is Ferrell doing his version of the Truffle Shuffle; but it’s sort of like watching a soft, hairy man with plumber’s crack twerking.

I think I found a newer song with cowbell, but you’ve got to be patient.

Love this! I haven't listened to the RHCP in ages. I like when bands just show up and play somewhere. When I lived in Chicago area, the bars on the south side would always be packed when the Stones came to town. They always showed up somewhere....

You betcha! Always liked the Chili Pepper's sound. The Southside must have been a great place to be close to for music. You've probably seen these videos,
Muddy Waters and the Stones at Buddy Guy's bar.

Yeah, 1981 was the only time I saw the Stones...but I saw Muddy at least 5 times as a teen. He lived in Westmont, Il and would play the College of Dupage. Right by where I lived then...Pretty amazing. He would sit on that stool all show until Manish Boy...Then goodbye stool. Still make me smile!

BTW...I think this is the Checkerboard Lounge...What a great time to live in Chicago! Not so much now :-(.
