President Jimmy Carter signed the BWCAW Act into law. What a wonderful thing for us and for generations to follow.

Thank you for sharing, Jackfish. This is important. It is amazing to me how few people and how few t-shirts, hats, mugs, etc. include the very important second “w” in BWCAW. That second “W” is what separates and protects the “Boundary Waters” we love from beyond just another USFS area, and makes it an official “wilderness”. The signing of that Act made that difference. Thank you President Carter and the long list of many people who were integral to its passage.

Certainly an act that made my life much nicer!

Now we need to hope it is saved once again from the latest threat.

Thanks. I sent a link to the man who introduced me in May, 1979. I had no idea about its status, only that I was going back. Still do.
