Thoughts on what kind of print this is?

Looks like a dog track.

Where did you find it?

Superior Hiking Trail, just south of Castle Danger a few years back. I had always wondered, and came across the photo again today, and thought this crew might know.

It's actually hard to compare with the hand, because of the angle of the photo, but it was at least the size of the hand.

With it being that big mist likely a wolf print

Given its size and location you found it then my guess would be wolf track. Probably never know for sure that it wasn't someones really large pet dog but given the location and size odds are its a wolf.

..... and the copious amounts of wolf scat we saw in this area!

Just didn't know if it was for sure, but that's what we also suspected.

Bear is my guess.
Edit,
Looked at the pic with my computer, definitely looks K-9.

My guess would be wolf, either that or a really large dog.

That's what I thought. If it extends backward-elongated instead of more round it is a bear. It looks like the heel part goes back quite aways.

I think it's a bear due to the width of the track and the depth (heavier animal, deeper print). Wolf tracks aren't usually much bigger than a dog's.

If its a bear then its missing a toe. That track is clearly a 4 toed animal, bears have 5 toes.

That is the back paw of a young bear. See how the back is bareley indented in the soil. Been Bear hunting many years. They are silent walking through the woods. Their feet pads are like slippers.
