A lot of you seem to know each other in "real life". I don't know many of you. The ones I do...well...ruffians, the lot.
Anyway, I thought it was really fun seeing who people really are (in the November Selfie photo contest) instead of just their screen name.
Anyone care to share non-contest-worthy or non-selfie photos of yourself doing something in the BW?

This year we traveled to the canoe country and stayed in tiny little cabin #5 at Rockwood Lodge. 15 x 15 feet, 1926 log cabin. Lots of togetherness for a week. We canoed and hiked and had campfires outdoors, and in the evenings we played games in the cabin or read our books. So these photos are from our 2020 "adventure".

"Said one of these men, long past seventy years of age: 'I could carry, paddle, walk and sing with any man I ever saw. I have been twenty-four years a canoe man, and forty-one years in service; no portage was ever too long for me. Fifty songs could I sing. I have saved the lives of ten voyageurs. Have had twelve wives and six running dogs. I spent all my money in pleasure. Were I young again, I should spend my life the same way over. There is no life so happy as a voyageur's life!'"

These are great pics. Make sure you enter them in the November photo contest.

At the campsite on the Canadian side of LBF, the last evening of my first ever BWCA/Quetico trip.
I was 53 and the paddling and portaging was the most physically exhausting work I had ever undertaken, resulting in a 10 pound weight loss in less than a week.
I was shivering, my hair matted down after 6 days of minimal bathing and having traveled all day in the wind and rain with temperature in the 40s but which felt even colder after following a week in the upper 80s.
And yet, as the smile on my face reveals, I felt a giddiness and immense joy for what I had just experienced. I was hooked.

Not taken in the BW but canoeing related, just finished paddling 340 miles on the Missouri River. This picture was taken stepping out of the canoe in Saint Charles, Missouri August 2020 after competing in the MR 340, finishing in 73 hours.

Meaning the best, here, but you do really look like Gandalf in a canoe, Dan."
He is paddling a red canoe. Put a red cap on. Say a few Ho Ho Ho's and boom Santa.
I've been real good this year. I have a few things on my wish list... hint hint.

I had my Santa Stocking hat along but it was never cold enough to put it on.

:)

Actually it is my Spoon bladed Carbon fiber Paddle with a wood grip on it. The silver is a piece of duct tape to cover a rough spot I was going to get around to taking down with some sand paper- but time got away from me. I have done a lot of river miles with this paddle. Kazan River 560+ Miles, Yellowstone River, Rio Grand, San Juan. Up the Brule and down the St Croix as well as many other smaller right rivers and creeks. The only way you will catch me paddling with an aluminum/ plastic paddle is if was the only thing available to me to get on the water.
You all, Thanks for all the comments about Santa and stuff- they bring a smile to me. May you all have a great Christmas.

Our granddaughter took this photo of my husband in 2018. He has ALWAYS used the marlite and aluminum paddle that came with our Grumman canoe (as a freebie) in 1973. Has never had any desire to upgrade, even when I bought myself a nice Sawyer bent-shaft at Canoecopia a few years ago. Lots of canoe trips and other paddling with that old paddle.
