I was in a smaller city near Moscow most of the time. Some of the people from Siberia were taxi drivers, etc. Some went back home at various times of the year. My lack of speaking Russian definitely hurt me, but it was cool when you "jived" with someone without being able to speak. I could tell my fellow wild people. : )

I spent a day in Moscow and that completely blew me away! What a beautiful and alive city. Wow. Kinda nervous with some of the international relation problems, but (per usual) most of the population are just caring people curious about one another.

When the pandemic hit, I was trying to get accepted for one of the medical expeditions where they take supplies into remote areas of Siberia. That is all on hold for international travelers right now, of course. But, definitely on my bucket list.

I will check out your video on the Alaskan arctic, Fader. I absolutely love this type of stuff!!!! Keeps me dreaming. And, coping with the virus.

The book I recommended earlier (Ava Blackjack) focuses on Wrangler Island. I googled it today and a few people (mostly scientists) live there now.

This is one of my all-time favorite stories. It is crazy fascinating. And, sad/interesting/intriguing. It is a long read, but worth every minute.

This show follows the Korth family and a handful of others who actually live in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. In 1980 it was determined that no new cabin permits for ANWR would be issued. Existing permit owners would be allowed to maintain and transfer permits to their I own children, and after that nobody will be allowed to live in the refuge. It’s a pretty neat documentation of wild, hard, incredible lifestyle.

I love the traps the Siberian trapper makes. Much more humane than our leg holds traps. I also love his Russian snow machine.
