Bushwhackers Jamboree IV (2021)
WHO....Whoever can get a permit and get to the lake on the dates to be revealed later. No daytrippers (campers only)...we will gather in the evening.
WHAT...It will be an informal meeting of tough and hardy travelers, where stories and information will be told. Knowledge, that has been earned, and should continued to be earned.
WHERE...It will be on a lake near the middle of Quetico, with no name, no portage trail to it (none), good depth, good water, plenty of bugs and campable shorline, and maybe...just maybe good fishing.
WHEN....It will be in mid-June 2021...when bugs are bad, and so are the voyageurs.
WHY...Because the best information should be earned. Because exploring those no-name lakes makes for great adventure. Because I want to meet other bushwhackers and hear where they've been, and tell them where I've been, and exchange great stories.
Once again...
While I'd love to go and shake the hand of others who get there, issues on the home front make it tough for me to pull off long trips....but you never know.
How...Just get there.
Lake and dates will be revealed on this site, on December 7, 2020 @ 9:00 PM CT
Stumpy....
OK...It's Jun 8th 2021, on lake "B" pictured....

I'm sure I don't need to remind you... but, http://www.ontarioparks.com/backcountry/safetyandetiquette
and to be more precise, under the Travelling and Campsite sub headings:
Use only existing trails and portages.
Good campsites are found not made. Use only existing campsites.
Set-up tents in previously cleared areas.
Keep campsites small. Focus activity in areas where vegetation is absent.
Do not alter the campsite by digging trenches around your tent, stripping moss to create a tent pad, moving rocks, or creating log structures.

Grandma L: "Hopefully the Canadians open the border! Is there a Plan B for the BWCA so we can all be ready to get our permits in January on Permit Opening Day??"
No... not by me....it is, what it is.
