Does anyone know if there is an updated map of the snowmobile trail from McFarland to South Fowl Lake? I know there is an old unmaintained trail (Tilbury Trail) and a lot of discussion over creating a new trail. That said most people reference still using a trail to get into South Fowl, do most people still use the old Tilbury Trail or is there actually a new trail that has been established?

When I search online all I can find is documents related to the discussion and legal proceedings from 10 years ago and not much of anything more recent. It appears a number of alternate routes were proposed however I cannot find a current map actually showing what is or is not in place.

Attached is the best picture of a map I could find but again it lists both the old trail and potential alternatives, it does not say what is actually there today.,

Any knowledge of which trail to use (and where approximately it is) or a newer up to date map would be greatly appreciated. TIA.

I did a similar search recently, and did come across one or two sources describing progress on constructing the new route circa 2016, but no maps. It's unclear whether it has actually been finished by now. I'd suggest contacting the USFS, as they almost certainly have diagrams buried deep in EIS reports and such somewhere.

Hi, not sure about the proposed trail but I was up at Trail Center this past weekend and they said a groomer went through the ice on Fowl. I even saw the photo of it- not good. This has been a strange winter up there. When the ice started forming, they got a foot of snow that just insulated it. When we were ice fishing, there was a ton of ice that we were drilling through so there is plenty of it, just be careful out there.
