I finally put together all five videos from my very successful recent Lake Trout trip to Little Knife, Amoeber, Cherry and Hanson Lakes. We caught roughly 35-40 trout over the course of the week and I would guess 15-20 of those were over 25". Here's the link to the first video, I hope you all enjoy!!!

Very nice-extremely well done. You passed our camp sight...we almost took your course...decided upon a different course and had similar success-with brook trout. You must have been a week or two later than us.

I just watched the first video.

Excellent scenery, great music with quality editing and some beautiful lakers to boot.

Very enjoyable. Thanks for posting that.

Now on to video #2...

Hey Eric, I just finished episode three. This is very well put together, fantastic job! I’ve been to Knife multiple times, you may have convinced me to visit Amoeber.

Absolutely love the videos. I'd love to see some pics of your LT tackle. Especially favorite lures.

Also, where did you get the frying pan at:

I can't imagine the time it takes to edit all of that. Thank you for sharing. Excellent videos and gives me some trip ideas for this summer!

You can rent or purchase the cast-aluminum frying pans at Piragis Northwoods company. They are fantastic! cook just like cast-iron at half the weight. I used to lug around a log logic 9" frying pan, these are way better:

As for the Lake Trout tackle, check out my blog post or watch the videos. I share all of my tackle and techniques for catching lake trout:

I did have help editing the videos. I do have adobe premier and I do a little on my own and am learning more, but it it is nice to have a little help from a professional.

Nice work, Eric, I enjoyed the videos. Beautiful lakes all around and y'all were rewarded for your work. Couple of comments:

1) You guys are crazy grabbing at those treble hooks all day long. I embedded a large treble in my finger this summer while solo on the Miss river. It was a long and painful ride back to my car, can't imagine that happening way out on SAK. Everyone has their own method but I'll stick with a net and STRONG pair of locking hemostats.

2) Laughed my tail off at the extended footage of your friend taking a whizz and attempting to get buttoned back up on shore while you're fighting a fish :D

3) Not a criticism, just a question -- on one of those larger fish your pal suggests you foul hooked it and you kinda laugh it off and dismiss him. Not that it matters since it was a release anyway, but it sure looked like you snagged it with a rip-jig, no?

4) Montreal steak seasoning and a whole lotta butter, it's like you read my mind haha.

1.) You are right, which is why I always handle the larger fish, when possible, with the boga grip (and for the safety of the fish). I really don't like using a net with Lake trout because it almost always buries the trebles in the net (even with rubber-coated netting) and damages the fish while they are thrashing (see the footage of the foul-hooked trout I landed the net with in video 4 on Hanson-It is pretty ragged looking after it thrashes in the net). Especially with these delicate trout, their protective slime layer takes a beating when they are landed in a net. Also, if I am going to grab the fish with my bare hands, I almost always grab the leader line right above the bait and/or get a really strong grip on the spoon or crankbait itself. In my experience, when people get a hook in themselves, it is almost always from the bait launching back at them because they have the rod loaded up and the hook releases, or, because they don't commit to holding the fish/lure securely or in the correct place. If the fish thrashes, I immediately drop whatever I'm holding and remove my hands immediately. I have never once seriously hooked myself past the barb (famous last words, I know), but we do always have bolt cutters present and a serious first aid kit on hand. I have been chasing and eating fish for years...I guess it's only justice if I do get a nasty hook in the hand at some point. I feel my method is the kindest for the fish, but do acknowledge it's likely not the safest.

2.) I was hoping no one would see that...so far you are the only one who noticed...hopefully folks don't think less of us for that...if so, I can try to edit it out

3.) I do consider myself a good sportsman and understand foul-hooking a fish doesn't "count." I do, however, refuse to believe that I was lucky enough to just randomly snag that fish. It was hooked right under her jaw, so I am guessing she was going after it and missed or she spit the hook on one of her death rolls and the line wrapped around her drove the hook into the bottom of the mouth. When we go fishing, any fish we get up to the boat we count as a "catch" even if we don't land it - I was just telling him that it counted as a catch, despite the foul hook. Either way, I do release those fish that are foul hooked and would have even if it was a perfect eater.

4.) I love all of the montreal seasonings! Montreal steak, lowry's and cajun always make it into my kit for BWCA trips. Butter is also a must on those cooler weather trips!

Thanks for the critical feedback, I appreciate it!

I'd grab another in chrome blue! Always have at least one backup. My white one had to be retired on this trip because those big bruiser trout ended up breaking the tail/fin off.
