This might not be the right place, but here we go.

I will be up in Superior sometime in February. Does anybody on the site ice fish the harbors and could maybe show me a few places to access the ice and maybe a few tips? Or other local options that might produce some good fish for pictures?.

Thanks
Jay

In the event you need or want a pro’s help, contact this guy. He writes a year-round column for the Duluth News-Tribune that is highly informative. If it were me, I’d pay him for some personalized advice. And no, he’s not related to me and I gain nothing from this referral.

Lots of people out fishing. If you have the gear just go out and give it a shot. Good luck!

Thanks gravel road, I looked up a few guides myself but I prefer not to use them. Thank you for the info and I will definitely read his reports.
Paddlin, I do have all my own gear. I will definitely just go by myself if it come to it, just like the though of tagging along (buddy system)with somebody that knows the area and has fished there before..
Thank you for replying!

There's a bunch of videos on youtube, and usually enough people out there on a Saturday that you could go by them and eventually buddy up. I would assume you could park on Park Point and walk out. I have seen people parked at the end by the airport who walk out.

My wife and I just went out the other day. Folks walk out from the boat club area (street parking), the airport, or the public access. It's a pretty unique experience. The program is hunker down and try to jig 'em in. I've been down there 5 or 6 times and have never caught anything. People are fishing for walleyes. The word on the street is that it is a strong bite at first ice and then tapers. If it is like last year, no one will be fishing down there in February as the migratory bite is over. Even without fish, though, it makes for some good pictures with the industry, view of the city, and ships docked along the Superior shore. You drive out over the lift bridge and fish on the right-hand, harbor side. Good luck.

Depth ranges from 7 to 10 feet, approximately. Its been said before, it's just trying to jig them in and hope for the best
