Sawbill has a nice campground on the lake. Could get day passes from there into the park or just fish Sawbill.
Do you literally mean camp IN your car like you need just a parking spot? Or the usual "car camping" where you're renting or hammock near your vehicle. Fenske lake comes to mind near Ely for another campground on or near lake. If you just need a parking spot...your options go way up

That ain't camping, my friend ;) And it's tough to find trophy smallmouth next to a parking lot.
If you were less hung up on size and wanted to pitch an actual tent, Hungry Jack Lodge would be my suggestion. Small campground with nice tent pads and electrical hookup. Bar/food/bait/gas on site. Sitting on Hungry Jack Lake just outside the border of the BWCA. HJ is managed by the DNR as a "trophy" smallmouth lake with catch & release on all fish 14-20 inches. The problem is, the management approach either isn't working or needs more time to work, in my experience.

Two Island Lake National Forest Campground. Rent a campsite and sleep in your car if you want to:) although there's plenty of room for a tent. Excellent smallmouth fishing and a pretty dandy walleye lake too. Pretty remote and some very nice lakeside campsites, just pull the canoe up on the sand or gravel shore and tie off to a tree.
