Putting a trip together first several days of June and was wondering if its better to target rivers or lakes for walleye and any of the other species? I know in May the rivers tend to be quite productive, but does that same productivity spill over into June? Rivers being the Kawashiwi, Horse, etc. I know shallower water will still be name of the game generally as water will still be fairly cool, but will it be too cold for leeches to prevent them from balling up or does a guy bring minnows? Any experience with the preserved minnows in the BWCA? Any input greatly appreciated than you.

I have used crawlers in early June and did well. Leeches also produce if conditions are right. We usually fish Basswood or Big Moose in June.
