Hello all,

In an effort to keep the tradition alive and perhaps inspire someone out there to dump their composite canoe for wood, I am doing a tutorial on building a wood/canvas canoe from scratch. I don’t build canoes to sell, only for my selfish pleasures. The one I am building now is being donated to the Friends of the Boundary waters as a fund-raiser. I’m not sure on their plans for it yet.

Nice, thanks! My dad built one in the 80s that we recently refinished. He also went to a shop that specializes in them a few years ago and made one in a long week where they provided the form and tools and stuff.
