Moderators please move this to the trip partner finder section it’s not appropriate here. I just thought I’d reach a broader audience here and it isn’t really a BW “trip” that I need a partner for.
My 2021 MR 340 stern paddle partner cancelled, leaving me high and dry without him. I’m pretty disappointed and scrambling to find someone to fill his spot. Registration is open now but the race isn’t until July.
It’s my second year so I have a bit of experience and I’m a strong bow paddler. It doesn’t matter to me if you’re male or female, just need a good attitude to deal with whatever gets thrown at us and the commitment to show up and finish the race. It’s not really as hard as it sounds, just 340 miles of paddling on the Missouri River, staying in the canoe and in the channel. No portages! And you have an entire 85 hours to complete it in!
I have the canoe and the required ground crew, all you need is some stern experience, the desire, commitment and your entry fee. I can provide transportation to Kansas City from central Illinois and back from Saint Charles.
Please email me if you think you’re interested.

Getting to paddle in the stern the whole time! That would be a dream for me :) However, I already have a 2 week BW trip planned with my hubby during that time frame. Hope you find someone. Sounds like a very cool experience.

Yes, it’s July 20-23. It can be pushed back by the event organizers 3-4 days depending on water conditions, if I remember correctly. There are alternate dates planned for August and September both if it is cancelled r/t the river. It is always planned for the full moon for visibility while paddling through the nights.
There is a MR340 forum as well as Facebook site with lots of information. It’s a really awesome experience if it’s your kind of thing.
My canoe is a previously loved and retired outfitter Minnesota 2 from Voyageur North Outfitters, purchased specifically for this race.

I don’t think you’d regret it! Email me if you have questions. We can chat via text or phone if you’d like. I think the Facebook page is more active that the forum but there’s information on both. Registration is open now.

A perfect opportunity for someone to get their feet wet, without all the hassle of planning a shuttle and finding a shore crew. I'd consider it but for 2 reasons. One, I'll be 73 in a few weeks, the other is I plan on doing the Kruger / Waddell again. If the MR 340 gets pushed back to their back-up date in August, it would interfere with the K/W. Then I'd have to leave you in the lurch, and you'd be where you're at now. Good luck, and I hope Covid doesn't rear it's ugly head, resulting in a cancellation.

Thanks for considering, Voyager. You make very valid points. My stern paddle partner in 2020 was 75 years old. He did amazing. It sounds like you have other wonderful things planned for the summer but keep it in mind for 2022. I seriously think this is an event I could participate in every year. There were Covid concerns for 2020 so there will likely be this year, too. We were required to wear masks when approaching and leaving the start, finish and check points. Of course we were to social distance off the water but sometimes that was hard. Best wishes for the K/W.
