I will throw this out there. I know there are lots of folks planning trips and could use a few tips.
EDIT Of DATE
I am proposing a trip planning wing night for this Friday (Jan 29) from 6:30pm - 8pm.
Post if you are interested in jumping on as either someone who wants to ask questions, listen, or answer questions.

Happy to help with areas I have traveled and interested in getting advice on some new areas I want to travel this summer.
Most of my experience is routes off the Gunflint Trail, so that is my comfort zone for answering questions.

Heyfritty: "How would this be conducted? Zoom meeting or..."
This would be a zoom like meeting. I have a google meet paid account so that is what we would use. I think we are going to push this out a week as this is pretty short notice at this point.

Interested.
Already got the updated link, I guess. Thanks.
Focusing on a single topic might be hard for this group, but looking forward to seeing the attempt. :-)

Adam, send me an invite, too.

Please send me an invite. I guess I am a defacto leader for base camping based on the number of submissions in Joe's headed forum for BASECAMPING. I would answer questions if I can actually get into the meeting.

I am interested - I have a good deal of experience in some areas but am also looking for advice in an area where I have not been before. Thank you for setting this up!

If you requested an invite and didn't receive it, please let me know.
With this large of a group, we will ask that most folks be on mute. I could use some help from someone to monitor the chat for questions or comments to queue up people that would like to speak.

I'm no expert, but I believe zoom meetings can be set up where sub-groups can be assigned virtual rooms. My son's Scout troop does this and it works well to divide everyone up when different kids are planning different campouts or working on separate merit badges.
Just a thought

That sounds interesting. I will look into it.

adam: "Thanks all who came! A nice crew and conversation.
Next time more people need to be eating wings during the call.
"
I think I was the only one eating, and it was gnocchi! Ha.
I'd be very interested in a monthly call like that.
I agree the presentation you put together Adam, paired with side chat conversation and q&A was great, not to mention pairing names w/faces.
Like I said, I'd be up for doing this monthly e.g. Last Friday of the month...

Thanks Adam! It was a fun evening. I enjoyed lurking, which is mostly what I do on the board. I would like to see a semi-regular event too. I work a lot of Friday nights but have some free this winter & spring. No food on my end but I was enjoying a tasty beer I received as a gift.

I think there was an ask in last night's chat to have a simple Q&A format for the next one. We go off on so many directions... sometimes great, sometimes only good.
I'd vote that our next one focus on gear. (This last one was -- for the most part -- on trip planning.)
