Does it matter if I use a Snap Swivel for pulling shad raps?

Any recommendations on which to get?

I know there is debate about the action? If people are using them are they removing the Split ring and attaching it directly to the lure?

I usually use the duo-lock style snap without a swivel. The larger loop works like a non slip loop/rapala knot to let the lure do its thing.

+1 on the plain Duo-Lock snap. A lot easier for these aging fingers to change baits.

Just a snap. Since crankbaits don't spin like spoons or other lures do, you don't need a swivel. I guess it wouldn't hurt, but I feel like it could hinder the action.
For what it's worth, the few times I've pulled shad raps with a guide, they've used just the snap.

I use these for most of my crankbait needs. I cut off any split ring that may be attached to the crankbait.

Do you know what size you use for a medium size shad rap? I see that there are 7 different sizes.

I use a size #2 for everything. I used to go smaller, but was convinced there was no need.

I bought a 300 pack with all 7 sizes. Size 1 or 2 would probably work fine. The largest ones in the pack I bought are allegedly 165lb test and the only uses I could think of for them was to load them up with smaller snaps so that they're not loose in the box and attaching tools to zingers.

i prefer to tie directly , i have no problem retying when changing to a different lure. some are made to have a split ring others are not.

I was mistaken, the box I picked up has 5 sizes (quarter for scale)

+1 A good loop knot or split ring helps get the most action out of a lure.

Another for Duo-Lock here. They work great and generally are light enough to use with other baits, poppers etc. For non-spinning stuff, I think it's the way to go
